Abstract

?-paminobenzoic acid single crystal was grown by slow evaporation technique at 28 °C. Crystal structure of title compound was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and it shows that the grown crystal has ?-p-aminobenzoic acid [?-PABA] crystal structure and the lattice parameters are a=6.30 Å, b= 8.61 Å, c= 12.43 Å, ?=90°, ?=100.20° and ? =90°. The optical absorbance spectrum shows that the grown crystal has a characteristic absorbance in ultraviolet region. TG-DTA studies exhibits that there is no weight loss upto 187 °C. Laser damage threshold indicates that the grown crystal has good laser damage stability.
