Abstract
Good quality single crystals of pure, nickel sulphate, L-Asparagine monohydrate and ammonium chloride doped ADP crystals were grown by Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy (SR) method. The grown crystals were subjected to UV–Vis. transmittance and birefringence studies. The crystal has enough transmission in UV, visible and higher energy portion of IR region. The transmission in the visible region seems to be different for different ion dopents. The optical homogeneity of the birefringence shows that the grown crystals have good optical quality. The birefringence value for < 1 0 0 > and < 0 0 1 > crystallographic direction of crystals have been determined and these results are correlated with optical transmittance results.
